Karhunkierros Visitor Centre Ltd maintains two important bases for hikers along the route. The Arctic Circle Café and Karhunkierros Visitor Centre located on the Arctic Circle in Hautajärvi, Salla, is the official northern starting point of the entire Karhunkierros Trail. Basecamp Oulanka in Myllykoski, Kuusamo, the southernmost point of Oulanka National Park, along the Little Karhunkierros Trail, is for many the culmination of the hike.
