The official starting or ending point of the 82 km (50 miles) long Karhunkierros Trail.
The Arctic Circle Café offers wilderness-style accommodation for both hikers departing for and returning from the Karhunkierros Trail hike.
Three two-person log cabins with a bunk bed and a fireplace. No electricity or running water.
Four Kota huts for 2–3 persons with accommodation in sleeping bags on sleeping mats. No electricity or running water.
The main building of the Arctic Circle Café houses a toilet and a shower, a café and a pub (A-licensed), a summer terrace and a nature exhibition. Guests have access to a dry toilet, a water outlet and a campfire site. The sauna hut can be rented (€30/hour). Breakfast (€10/person) available with advance booking.

Oulanka National Park ends at Basecamp. You can start or end the Karhunkierros Trail hike here or continue your journey after your stay. Here you can relax in the hiker’s sauna, hang out with other hikers on the terrace or by the campfire, share hiking experiences, enjoy a tasty dinner or a smaller evening snack and a chilled beverage, spend the night in crisp bedding and enjoy a hearty breakfast in the morning before heading on your hike.
18 single or double rooms, partly equipped with lofts, with the possibility of adding extra beds. All hotel rooms are equipped with a toilet and a shower.
Restaurant and bar (fully licensed), summer terrace, hiking sauna, lakeside sauna, campfire site. Equipment rental: packrafts, canoes, kayaks, SUP-boards, fat bikes. Activities: rafting trips on the Kitkajoki river – departures daily Mon-Sat.

There are several wilderness cabins along the Karhunkierros Trail where hikers can overnight free of charge. These cannot be booked in advance. There are also lean-to shelters, day-use huts, campfire sites and camping grounds.

The Oulanka Camping (paid) is located along the Karhunkierros Trail, in the middle of the park, near the Oulanka Visitor Centre.
